Since 1968, Hamilton has been synonymous with British craftsmanship and innovation in electrical design. Rod Hamilton founded the company in Teddington, London, where he began producing dimmers and electrical products from a small workshop, driven by a commitment to quality and attention to detail.

In the late 1980s, Rod’s son, Ian Hamilton, introduced a pioneering concept that would define the brand’s design philosophy: a two-part, interchangeable switch and socket plate. Finalised in 1989, the original design drawings established a modular system that allowed customers to combine different finishes and frame styles, creating a new level of flexibility and personalisation in electrical accessories.

Today, Hamilton remains a proudly family-led business, combining decades of expertise with contemporary design. Every product reflects the company’s dedication to precision engineering, refined aesthetics, and the enduring values of British manufacturing.
